Today I am writing a little blog just to give a bit of information in relation to the group as in the past couple of weeks I have been asked a lot of questions about the running club.
DB12Run – What does it mean?
The name DB12Run was made up from the words DB=Dia betic and 12 is the type 1 & 2 and run Is short for.. running… DB12Run
I have a medical condition, can I run with the group
I am not the healthiest / Fastest / Don’t really run
We are not like the other groups out there who push you on times and make you run till your calves turn cement and your lungs turn blue. We do not rely on times and for you to beat your PB for a 5k route.
DB12Run is a group for people who want to become more fit and active and would like to make new friends – it doesn’t matter if you are an Olympic athlete or someone that cant jog more than ten seconds.
What we do during the course of Strathclyde park is jog from a post to post then walk to a post then jogging from a bench to a bench then walk from bench to a post and so forth – I would roughly say you will be jogging 3.2km and walking 1.8km.
We all jog/run and walk at the same pace – there is no I in team.
The group is really great – the runners have been amazing and I am extremely proud of everyone who has turned up to DB12Run – I cant thank them enough for coming to the group
What is the average age? and how many have turned up so I am not just running myself
the age has varied over the past couple of weeks – the youngest girl being 25 and the oldest gentleman being 55 – mostly I would say the average age is in the late 30’s ( sorry for any of the running group reading this you all look 28 to me! )
the group is just over a month old ( born 2nd May ) and so far the most we have had to date was 8 runners – Saturday 6th June. The group is getting more bigger each and every week that’s why we added Wednesday to the date.
Can I bring a friend or a dog?
Yes! please bring a friend or your pet dog!
How old do I have to be to join the group?
Preferably anyone over the age of 17
I have missed it for a week the running group, can I come back?
Nothing would make me more happier than to see you come back.
if you miss it for a month then come back I will always be there with stretches and a smile on my face saying hello to you
If you have any further questions
Please let me know and I will answer them as quickly as possible
